Robotic Surgery Workshop at AAU Qatar Congress

The Robotic Upper Urinary Tract Surgery Course, held during the 21st Arab Association of Urology Congress in Doha, Qatar, brought together leading experts and surgeons to enhance robotic surgical skills in a highly interactive and hands-on environment. Supported by Urotrainer and key organizations like the Arab Association of Urology and the Hamad Medical Corporation, this workshop emphasized innovation and precision in robotic surgery.

Robotic partial nephrectomy training on the Da Vinci Xi system

Comprehensive Training for Robotic Surgeons

Participants gained in-depth knowledge of the Da Vinci surgical robotic system, including its components, principles, instrument handling, port placement, and patient positioning. The program combined expert-led lectures with video presentations of robotic procedures such as partial nephrectomy and pyeloplasty. Attendees further refined their skills on Da Vinci Xi robotic simulators, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.

The Role of Urotrainer Models in Skill Development

A standout feature of the course was the hands-on practice of robotic partial nephrectomy using advanced gel kidney models by Urotrainer. These models, designed for realistic simulation of surgical procedures, allowed participants to practice intricate steps like tumor resection and renorrhaphy in both transperitoneal and retroperitoneal approaches. Urotrainer’s 3D anatomical accuracy and tactile feedback provided an unparalleled platform for mastering complex techniques while minimizing real-world risks.

Advanced Surgical Techniques and Planning

The workshop delved into critical areas of patient preparation, management of small renal masses, and the use of 3D modeling for surgical planning and navigation. Practical tips for complication management and prevention during robotic procedures further enriched the program.
